Anderson County Precinct Changes
A plan adopted by the Election Commission in January 2002 will affect several precincts in Anderson County. Click on the underlined words to link to a list of the new county districts and new county precinct locations. New registration cards informing the affected voters of the changes will be mailed before upcoming elections.

(Note: Blue text indicates names of former or merged precincts. Red text indicates the new names of present precincts.)

The Anderson County Vocational School precinct has been divided into two precincts --Glen Alpine and Clinch Valley. Glen Alpine will vote at the Anderson County Career and Technical Center (vocational school). Clinch Valley will vote at Anderson County High School.

In Oliver Springs, the Norwood precinct becomes the Tri-County precinct. The new precinct, which was added to District 6, extends from the Oak Ridge city line to the railroad tracks that cross Tri-County Boulevard.

In addition, voters in the Dutch Valley, Marlow , and Clinton High School precincts have been redistributed to allocate the population more evenly.

In Oak Ridge, Highland View and Oak Ridge High School were merged into one precinct, which will be called Highland View and will vote at the Children's Museum of Oak Ridge.

Willowbrook and Robertsville precincts will also merge. The new precinct will be named Robertsville and voting will be held at the Robertsville Middle School. The name of Woodland A precinct will be changed to Hendrix Creek, and the Woodland B precinct will be called Woodland.

There are also boundary changes for some of the Oak Ridge precincts.

The eastern boundary line for the West Hills precinct in District 6 will be the center of Louisiana Avenue.
The dividing line for the Highland View and Pine Valley precincts will be Pennsylvania Avenue. People living on the west side of Pennsylvania will be in Highland View and those living on the east side will be in the Pine Valley precinct.

Florida Avenue will divide the Pine Valley and Glenwood precincts, with residents on the west side being in the Pine Valley precinct and residents on the east side being in the Glenwood precinct.

For the most part, the Emory Valley precinct will follow Emory Valley Road, dropping down into the Briarcliff area at one point and then back onto Emory Valley Road.

The Election Commission worked to develop a layout in which the precincts were similar in size and followed recognizable landmarks. They also had to consider the new district lines set by the Anderson County Commission.
